About Me

Some stories begin with a single frame. Mine started at seven years old, holding my mother's 35mm Canon at our farm in Colombia — and I never really let go of the camera since. I'm Natalia Verbruggen, a professional photographer based in Ladysmith, BC, primarily serving the Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo, and available for travel across Vancouver Island for select creative projects. With roots in Colombia and a formal background in Architecture, over a decade of practice has shaped the way I see light, structure, and the people moving through it.

I'm drawn to the human in motion — dancers mid-leap, athletes in flow, children lost in play. Having danced myself, I don't just photograph movement; I feel it. I look for the expression behind the gesture, the story inside the stillness between steps. Whether capturing fine art dance photography or leveraging my architectural eye for real estate photography, I work strictly with natural and available light. Whether that's the open sky, a stage spotlight, or the glow of a gymnasium at a Saturday tournament—there are no artificial studio setups. Just the light that's already there, used intentionally to define shapes and shadows.

My creative services include portrait, lifestyle, and movement photography—people, dance, and sports—as well as event photography with curated recap reels, a perfect way to relive a birthday, performance, or celebration. I also provide architectural and real estate photography for spaces that demand a sharp eye for design and natural light.
